The early morning fog enveloped the horizon, the sea was calm, and as soon as the tide was high enough, the first fishing boat went out.
It was Les Copains d'Abord.
----------------------------

There are just about 30 fishing boats that call Grandcamp their home port. For the wholesale market, there are two main products: Scallops and fresh fish, for a total of about 2,000 tons per year. The fish is caught at night, it is brought to market in the early morning, which is better for the wholesalers. The freshness of the products guarantees a higher price for the fishermen, the highest in fact of the Normandy ports.

But, in spite of the qulity of the scallops, they are sold cheaper than 20 years ago. Why? Bay scallops, which can legally be sold as the real thing, are imported in huge quantities and depress the market.
