A Barfleur, autour du port, que ce soit à marée haute ou à marée basse, il y a toujours quelque chose à photographier. Ce jour-là, c'était une petite barque bleue, amarrée au quai et encadrée de cordages avec un joli noeud bien fait.
La tradition veut que "Le Mora", vaisseau qui transporta Guillaume le Conquérant, Duc de Normandie, en Angleterre, soit sorti des chantiers de Barfleur, ainsi que de nombreux navires qui devaient participer à la "conquète". Un médaillon de bronze fixé sur un rocher à l'entrée du port, inauguré en 1966 pour commémorer le 900ème anniversaire de cet événement, nous rappelle que c'est un marin de Barfleur, Etienne, fils d'Airard, qui eut le redoutable honneur de piloter le navire ducal au cours de la traversée de la Manche.

Tradition claims that "Le Mora", the boat that carried William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy, to England, was built in the workshops of Barfleur, along with quite a few of the boats that were engaged in the Conquest. A bronze medallion on a rock at the entrance to the harbor, unveiled in 1966 for the 900th anniversary of this event, reminds us that it is a sailor from Barfleur, Etienne, son of Airard, who had the honor of being the skipper on the boat that took William across the English Channel.
