A typical postcard from Etretat: the cliffs, the pebble beach, the brightly-painted rowboats, and a beautiful blue sky. What else would you want!

-----------------------

For the festival Normandie Impressionniste, the town of d'Etretat organized a photo contest opened to all professional and serious amateur photographers.

And the winner is photographer and journalist Philippe Deneufve.

To illustrate the subject "Etretat, from impressionism to photography", Philippe Deneufve chose to show the site in its natural state, to present the elements of this exceptional landscape while attempting to capture the light, the clouds and the ever-changing weather.

"Essentially, I chose to immerse myself in these 6 miles of coastline as a place of contemplation; adjusting my eye to the mood of each of my walks. I also tried to use the landscape as a witness to the attitudes of my fellow men, with small details that show tiny silhouettes in particular situations which often catch my attention." (Philippe Deneufve)

The opening of this exhibit marked the start of the 2nd edition of the festival "Les Galetjades d'Etretat", which includes the Georges Dufour exhibit, The Day of the Artists, the Offenbach festival and the conférence on Jongkind.

The Philippe Deneufve exhibit is opened until August 29, 2010.
