The island of Tatihou, just offshore at St-Vaast, with the massive silhouette of the Vauban Tower rising like a stone sentinel, is typical of the military architecture of Vauban, the 17th c. architect. It has been home to sailors in quarantine, soldiers and scientists.
Today, the island is opened to tourists in search of nature, wild birds, naval history and fresh air.
