It's always a bit of relief when we watch a trawler come back to the harbor safely when a storm is raging over the sea

------------------

On March 25th, at 12:55 pm. the crew of a small fishing boat, the Tourangeau, calls the CROSS Jobourg to report that their engine has failed and they ask for assistance in getting back to the harbor at Grandcamp.

The trawler was fishing in the Bay of Seine , not far from the St-Marcouf islands.

The CROSS broadcasts a message to all ships in the area.

The training ship Jaguar, of the French Navy, which was sailing to Le Havre , answers the call and and changes course to help the fishing boat.

At 13:09, a tow line is secured and they sail for Grandcamp. At 16:09, another trawler takes over for the Jaguar to bring the fishing boat into the harbor, where it safely docks at 16:35.

The 8 training ships of the French Navy were launched in 1982 and 1983 to replace ancient American sweepers. With a crew of 15, they can embark 4 instructors and 18 students.

Based in Brest , they are all named for destroyers that serve during WW-II.: : Léopard, Jaguar, Panthère, Chacal, Lynx, Guépard, Tigre and Lion.

These names led naturally to the nickname the sailors gave to the group of ships: The Menagerie.

for families with relatives in these boats, i can feel the anxiety they feel while their loved ones are out in the sea..
